Mobile World Centre inaugurates Music+Arts, an international showcase of new trends in Art, Music and Digital Culture

Barcelona, 15 October, 2014. – On 21st October, Mobile World Centre will inaugurate Music+Arts, an international showcase of news trends in Art, Music and Digital Culture. Organised by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and Telefónica, and curated by the London agency Alpha-ville, the exhibition fosters creativity and stimulates the viewer’s imagination through a tour of the digital culture.

This journey is presented across 12 interactive spaces featuring 30 artists, designers and creators from around the globe; such as Universal Everything, Quayola & Sinigaglia, Scott Snibbe, Varvara Guljajeva & Mar Canet, among others. The event includes a central exhibition titled “New Realities”, in addition to a line-up of complementary activities – seminars, concerts, artists presentations, and workshops for children.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to enjoy interactive installations, digital art showcases, music creation apps, virtual worlds discovered through mobile devices, interactive videos, 3D sculptures created from songs of Portishead and Anthony & the Johnsons and create music with their own brainwaves – all free of charge. All of this artworks have been developed thanks to the possibilities of new technologies.

The opening event will feature a performance by Ryoichi Kurokawa, the internationally renowned Japanese artist who is known for the impact of his works, and who has exhibited at prestigious venues of the like of Tate Modern, the MACBA, the Centre Pompidou, La Biennale di Venezia, and Sónar. For this occasion Kurokawa will present his audiovisual work syn, a performance mixing sound and visual elements from a revolutionary perspective.
