FF Venture Capital, NY Angels, Empire Angels, Gotham Ventures and ERANYC. What do all these companies have in common? Firstly, as Business Angels, VCs, accelerators and investors they form part of the investing ecosystem. Secondly, their location: they’re all based in New York.

If you have a tech sector startup in Spain and want to look into the possibility of expanding your business into the USA, sitting down with one of these companies would be a very good first step. This and much more is what the Venture Out Spain soft landing program offers, with a week of activities in New York helping startups to make this jump.

From 11-16 January, 2015, 15 Spanish startups will travel to New York, coming into contact with investors in the American market and experiencing the city’s entrepreneurial community first-hand.

The program also includes:

  • Strategic meetings with Spanish entrepreneurs that are thriving in NYC.
  • Presentations with successful startups from different sectors, including the likes of Kickstarter, Tumblr, Foursquare and Sailthru.
  • Exclusive access to networking events (NY Tech meetup and others).
  • The opportunity to deliver a pitch in front of more than 300 people from NYC’s tech community.
  • Advice and workshops on legal issues, taxes, visas, company incorporation, branding, PR, marketing, sales and recruitment for the American market.

On Wednesday, 14 January one of the week’s main events will take place: Tech Tapas (Spanish Tech Showcase), where representatives of 15 Spanish startups will meet with those of local tech companies participating in the program, and with all the investors.

Venture Out NY is an initiative that has been successfully carried out with entrepreneurs in countries like France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and Canada, now implemented for the first time in Spain. Thanks to Venture Out NY, these startups not only managed to raise funds, but also slashed costs and were able to enter the American market faster.

Some of the speakers and investors who participated in other editions of the program include David Teten, from FF Venture Capital; Joshua Schwartz, from East Wind Advisors; Albert Wenger, with Union Square Ventures; and Angela Lee, with 37 Angels.

The program is in the participant recruitment phase, so if you are interested in your startup entering the US market, just fill out this application form.
