From 2-5 March L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia’s second largest city, will host the GSMA Mobile World Congress, to take place at Fira de Barcelona’s grounds in this municipality.
During the month of February the people of L’Hospitalet, for one week witnesses to the world’s largest mobile technology event, have been able to benefit, for the second straight year, from the activities that their city organises in conjunction with GSMA: the Mobile World Congress Days. Open to citizens pending previous signups, these free sessions were created in order to publicise the diverse aspects of the revolution spawned by the implantation of mobile technology.
Since 2 February, 2015 the Bellvitge Cultural Centre and Gornal Activa have been offering businesspeople, entrepreneurs, professionals and students sessions at which experts from the mobile technology sector share their wide-ranging personal experiences and success stories. Featuring a panel/conversation format, figures like Marc Pous, computer engineer and founder of thethings.iO, Rafa Jiménez, founder of the online agency Desmarkt, and David Domingo, curator and coordinator of contents for 4Years From Now (4YFN), have presented their visions of the technologies that will improve people’s lives in coming years, always from an eminently practical point of view.
The Internet of Things, augmented reality and virtual reality, drones and Big Data are some of the technologies that have been addressed at the four sessions in L’Hospitalet, which are focused on promoting new projects and the generation of business opportunities.
The sessions wind up on 23 February, 2015, with a final activity at Gornal Activa, to feature participation by Xavier Beumala, founder and CEO of Marfeel; Andrés Manso, co-founder of Incubio; and Carlos Iglesias, founding partner of Runroom. Beginning at 5 pm these three experts will highlight the importance of technology when it comes to devising a company’s roadmap, and will analyse tools like Big Data as a vehicle to optimise business processes. The signups to attend this activity are still open.
Thanks to the Mobile World Congress 2015 Days, different groups in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat have had the opportunity to learn from leading experts about the best way to launch a project, validate an idea, and discover tools, techniques and resources to bolster a company and gauge today’s market first-hand.
In short, a good lead-up to the GSMA Mobile World Congress and 4Years From Now (4YFN).
