Exposing the public to technology through digital solutions is the objective of the fourth edition of Mobile Ready, a Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCB) initiative forming part of its mLiving programme. In 2016 Mobile Ready features a mobile route with four innovative and free experiences suitable for everyone.

Coinciding with the GSMA Mobile World Congress, the new edition of Mobile Ready will be held in Barcelona from 19 to 26 February, and aims to feature pioneering digital solutions demonstrating how mobile technologies can improve some everyday actions, like shopping or parking.

Firstly, Veritas (Diputació, 239), the health food supermarket chain, offers customers a new online payment mode. The first step is to list your products on a mobile, tablet or computer, and then, through a connected kitchen device (IoT), scan their barcodes. Finally, using kinetic technology, the products are dragged from a graphic depicting store shelves to an online shopping cart. You can choose between receiving your order at home, picking it up at the store, or at a Saba car park. This system also recognises the user and directly charges him/her for his/her purchase.

The second feature can be found at Casa Viva (Rambla Catalunya, 41) where, using a pair of virtual reality goggles the user can view objects in a simulated environment and place them in different locations. Near this point is the fourth experience on the Mobile Ready route: the Benito Sports shop (Rambla Catalunya, 81) will invite customers to experience the sensations of extreme sports with a digital adventures simulator.

Finally, at the Saba car park at Barcelona-Sants Railway Station (Plaça dels Països Catalans s/n), and in collaboration with Seat, comes an innovation for drivers. Without getting out of their vehicles users will be able to reserve, access and pay for parking places, or pick up purchases previously made at Veritas, taking advantage of the click & collect service.

In short, the fourth edition of Mobile Ready offers citizens digital experiences that facilitate and improve the completion of their daily tasks, with services that will soon be commonplace at all these establishments.
