App Education, the course focusing on the conceptualisation, design and creation of applications for mobile devices, will be taught at Catalonian schools next year, marking the fourth since its inception. Secondary, senior school and Vocational Training students will once again have the opportunity to opt for this elective, which will improve their digital skills while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and building teamwork skills.

Created by the mSchools educational programme, the App Education course has seen enrolment increase three-fold: with 6,000 students during its first year, it drew 18,000 in 2015-2016, with a total of more than 36,000 students having taken the class. Through App Education both students and teachers have the opportunity to appreciate the benefits of introducing mobile technology into the classroom.

After the experience during the 2015-2016 academic year, which culminated on Saturday, June 4 with the App Awards, 87% of teachers recommended the course. Spurring students’ interests, the teachers participating in this mSchools initiative help pupils to develop new digital skills and prepare them for the connected world in which they will live.
