Mobile World Capital Barcelona has launched d-LAB, a new digital transformation programme that aims to solve social issues using mobile and digital technology. The programme implements initiatives with public and private consortiums, thinking always in a global collaboration, d-LAB has as aim implements solutions that will in turn solve challenges to improve people’s quality of life.

Their latest event took place at mventures Barcelona and was attended by Aleix Valls, CEO of Mobile World Capital and Bárbara Vallespin, Program Director of d-LAB. In addition, internationally renowned experts such as Boyd Cohen, Javi Creus, David Daltabev and José Antonio Aranda, participated in two round tables that closed the presentation.

d-LAB has 3 open calls to select two solutions to overcome the current barriers of the three challenges ahead. An example is the access to more economic sustainable services, more personalised and without geographic barriers so that people can have more facilities as a tool to solve day-to-day problems.

The first challenge, which began on January 20, revolves around the empowerment of people with disabilities through mobile and digital solutions and seeks to attract disruptive and innovative proposals that have a positive impact on their quality of life. The second challenge, to be convened in May, will address the transformation of  health systems through the collective and secure governance of citizens’ data. The latest challenge, to be launched in September, raises a fight against cyberbulling using mobile technology.

The event also has 3 operative pilot projects that deepens the potential of the digital transformation of sectors such as tourism, health and the relationship between the citizen and the administration. The first of them, Big Data Sagrada Familia applies Big Data and IoT (Internet of Things) solutions to analyze the tourist flow and the impact that has in the zone. The second, mConnect works to build secure, barrier-free digital environments that allow access to online public administration services. The last pilot in operation, applies mConnect to the private health sector; Promotes the adoption of mConnect as a new standard of digital authentication in the healthcare field. Through a simple, private and secure password, the user can access the private personal health folder.
