What possibilities do mobile technologies offer health systems and processes? To what extent can new mobile solutions bring innovations to health care processes?
Although the answers are still being debated, it is clear that it is already possible to manage fears and phobias with the help of an app, receive reminders to take one’s medication, or receive a diagnosis without visiting a doctor’s office. The range of possibilities offered by mHealth solutions is very broad. Proof of this is provided by the more than 80 projects participating in the 5th R&D&I Workshops on Health and ICTs, to be held on 5 and 6 June at the Parc Científic i Tecnològic at the Universitat de Girona.
For the first time the event will include the specific Mobile World Capital Barcelona mHealth prize, recognizing the project that delivers the best mobile solutions addressing health and well-being challenges. It will also award the best initiatives in three other categories:
At this fifth edition of the workshops special emphasis will be placed on e-health trends and research projects being carried out today, and also on promoting knowledge transfer on a global scale. In addition to the awards ceremony, the Parc de la Universitat de Girona will host an exhibition of the projects presented and two sessions of talks on the challenges facing e-health in France (5 June), financial instruments, and international business R&D&I programs (6 June), as well as several panel discussions, and communication pills and a speakers corner, to showcase the 80 presented projects.
Online registration for the workshops is available.
