Have you set up an enterprise but lack sufficient knowledge of finance to manage the purely administrative aspects? The ESADE Business School in Barcelona, a pioneer in training entrepreneurs, has created a Programme for Owner-Managers through its academic centre, the ESADE Entrepreneurship Institute (EEI). This is a three-month course focusing on the management concepts and tools that all family-business managers and entrepreneurs should be familiar with and know how to use.
Focused primarily on business founders, partners or general managers seeking to expand their knowledge, the programme also meets the needs of a broad group of entrepreneurs coming from a sector that has nothing to do with finance. These entrepreneurs have started a business and need to get it on its feet. They must not only be creative but also trained in general management, business strategy, leadership and human resources.
To draw this group of entrepreneurs to the Programme for Owner-Managers, ESADE has announced the 5th edition of the 2015 “Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs” National Competition. The competition is aimed at young people up to 30 years of age who have developed and initiated a startup but have no training in business management. The winner will be awarded a grant of €14,980 that covers 100% of the tuition for the Programme for Owner-Managers. The programme includes training in strategic business planning, financial and personnel management, as well as legal aspects, and develops negotiation and leadership skills. At the end of the course, all participants will have developed a Business Plan that includes a description, evaluation and assessment of the activities and resources necessary for entrepreneurs to achieve their objectives.
The Programme for Owner-Managers course will be conducted from March 20 to June 20, 2015 on the ESADE Barcelona-Sant Cugat campus. For this reason, participants must enter the grant competition individually and be ready to attend classes every Friday and Saturday during the aforementioned period.
Entrepreneurs under 30 years of age who wish to enter the competition must submit their application by Monday, February 2, 2015. On Thursday, February 16, the 5 finalists will receive an e-mail inviting them to personal interviews to be conducted on February 26 on the Sant Cugat campus. During this interview, the finalists will be asked to demonstrate why they are the best young entrepreneurs. On the same day of the interviews, a panel made up of teachers and staff associated with the ESADE Entrepreneurship Institute will deliberate and announce their final decision to the 5 finalists.
In addition to the grant to pay 100% of the programme’s tuition, this year’s “Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs” National Competition will also include other types of awards for the runners-up.
In 2014, for example, the ESADE experts awarded the full grant to Borja Auría, engineer and co-founder of Kernel Analytics, but also believed that the entrepreneurship of Ramón Molera and Pablo Pazos deserved recognition. Both received a grant to cover 50% of the Programme for Owner-Managers tuition.
With this competition, ESADE is in synch with the current socioeconomic situation, which has favoured an increase in entrepreneurial initiatives and the emergence of a multitude of new enterprises.
