Barcelona Global’s second challenge focuses on Barcelona’s “Mobile World Capital” status

Mobile World Capital Barcelona will participate in Barcelona Global’s second challenge, to be held in March. This time the goal will be to explore new forms of collaboration to promote the city’s development as the world’s mobile technology capital.

Based on contributions by the different stakeholders, and public discussion, an executive plan will be drafted that Barcelona Global will develop to identify how local industry representatives can get involved in this initiative.

Barcelona Global’s main aim is to identify key challenges for the city’s economic competitiveness, in this way proposing solutions to develop and implement projects. Each challenge is carried out according to the same methodology: for 1 month three sessions are held at which members of the association, and other professionals and companies committed to the city, debate and reflect on a particular issue. These efforts lead to a consensus that identifies alternatives and key actors, yielding an actual proposal designed to be implemented in the city. In every case the objective is to make Barcelona one of the best cities in the world, so as to attract talent and generate economic activity.

The first global challenge took place in July of 2015 and focused on excellence in higher education in Barcelona. This time around the first session took place on March 3 in the Cibernàrium. The next sessions will be held on 10 and 17 March at the MWCentre at 7 pm. Each session will feature participation by 40 Barcelona Global partners, who will explore how to help bolster Mobile World Capital Barcelona’s work.
