The Advisory Board’s first meeting
On October 5th, it took place the launch meeting of the MWCapital’s Advisory Board. And what’s this? We invited a group of people from all around the world and representing all the mobile ecosystem to help us define in detail and execute the MWCapital. The concept is based on mixing high level workers, either in executive committees or board of directors in their organizations. In this first event, we were glad to have the presence of 7 participants, plus 4 connected remotely. The list and their position is available on this article.
First working session of the Advisory Board
We wanted to mix minds coming from different stakeholders of the mobile ecosystem and from all 5 continents:
- Operators (America Móvil, Globe Telecom, Telecom New Zealand, Telefonica)
- Public sector and research (Government of Colombia, Institute for Enable Broadband Society of Melbourne)
- Manufacturers and supply chain (Alcatel, Brightstar, Intel, RIM)
- Entrepreneurs/internet companies (Obami)
On next editions new members might enlarge the group, but keeping it reduced, below 20 representatives. Actually, one of the first tasks of the Advisory Board is to suggest which other members, institutions or branches of the mobile environment should be also represented.
Map of the origin of the Advisory Board members present at the first meeting, plus of other proposed candidates
Being the first meeting, a good part of it involved protocol and presentation of the Mobile World Capital project and vision. However, the intense working session included also a big amount of interesting ideas and proposals we are already working on.
The next Board will be meeting during the Congress, the last week of February 2013. We must remark that all the members are representing themselves because of their carreer and experience and not the company where they are working on. Also they are volunteering to participate, since they don’t receive any economical compensation.
The MWCapital team wishes to thank all members for their interest and support in the idea; we have a full commitment to improve the society, and the Advisory Board will help us to improve the way how to do it, we bet we were able to transfer them our trust and vision and engage them! They are now fully commited.
