minube, the digital community of travellers, has taken a step towards innovation and collaborative learning with the launch of its minube School, a co-creation project producing initiatives to improve the quality of tourism.
minube School is an online platform that aims to function as a forum for collaboration between companies, public authorities, NGOs, educational centres and travellers themselves. Based on the knowledge that the various stakeholders contribute, after the most promising projects in the field of CSR projects are determined, the aim is to foster a more responsible and sustainable tourism industry. As wrote minube founder and CEO Raúl Jiménez in his letter introducing the initiative, “We are faced with the challenge of designing the foundations for a different kind of tourism, one that engages people, is committed to them, to the local business ecosystem and, of course, the environment. Ambitious? Perhaps, but experience shows us that, together, we can overcome any obstacle.” This project seeks to contribute to the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
minube is comprised of a community of over 1.5 million registered travellers from all over the world, who will be able to contribute to the project with their ideas or initiatives or inform minube School of those they had opportunity to learn during their trips. They will collaborate with leading companies and entities in the tourism sector, like Segittur, Codespa, Tides Cátedra Unesco, Meliá Hotels Resorts, Invat.tur, AECIT, AEPT, CETT_UB, Red de Industrias Creativas, Andalucía Lab, Universidad de Málaga, Amadeus, Ashoka, Unicef España, FITUR, Sictur, Instituto de Empresa (IE) and the United Nations Global Compact, among others. Other challenges the minubeSchool seeks to take on include inspiring and empowering professionals in the tourism sector and encouraging public-private and business-university collaboration.
The online platform is organised into sections devoted to innovation, research, empowerment, universities and co-creation. In addition, its “Better World” section will feature proposals to improve the world that are underway in the tourism sector.
minube School was presented at the International Inland Tourism Fair, INTUR 2016, held in Valladolid from 26 to 29 November.
minube is one of the companies participating in the Barcelona Mobile Soft Landing programme, a Mobile World Capital Barcelona initiative aimed at encouraging businesses and startups in the growth phase and operating in the mobile sphere to open up offices in the city so that, in the short term, they can grow and establish themselves in the area.
