mSchools TechCamp 2016: students, the IoT and a unique setting

Last June was the celebration of App Awards third edition. . This mSchools initiative recognises the accomplishments of students during the App Education course, a computer science elective offered in Catalan High Schools and Vocational Training Centres in Catalonia. More than 900 students -45% of them women – participated in the event, presenting their app prototypesand projects.

From 23 to 31 July the 53 winning students will be able to hone their digital skills at the second edition of mSchools TechCamp. This year’s mSchools TechCamp will focus on IoT and Big Data, combining practical workshops featuring project-based learning methodologies and outdoor recreational activities like kayaking and gymkhanas.

mSchools TechCamp 2016 will cover different aspects of IoT development . The participants, grouped into different teams, will learn to develop prototypes integrating different home automation solutions. Through the use of a microprogramming system and the implementation of sensors, the prototypes developed will allow participants to interact with everyday household objects. Following App Education’s learning methodology, mSchools TechCamp workshops employ blocks-based coding allowing students to intuitively create and design complex apps without the need of advanced programming skills.

mSchools TechCamp offers participating students all the necessary materials for this experience, such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino boards and others. In addition, Carlos Cuffi, Digital Transformation Manager at Mobile World Capital Barcelona, as expert guest speaker, will deliver a session including insights on Big Data, the study of behavioural tendencies through the processing of massive amounts of data.

Students from all over Catalonia are packing their bags to enjoy a unique experience that will have an impact on their lives. Do you want to be part of mSchools TechCamp 2017? Join App Education!
