MWC@MWC16 – Day 1: A new stand, the first themed tours, and Mobile Ready’s conclusions

The GSMA Mobile World Congress 2016 is now a reality. On February 22 at 9:00 am activity got underway on the first day of the world’s largest international mobile technology congress, poised to once again beat all previous records. After the kick-off of #MWC16 the spotlight was turned on the Mobile World Capital stand, located in Congress Square between Halls 4 and 5 (CS70), when it was honoured with an institutional visit by the highest-ranking local authorities.

Day 1-01

Dozens of testimonies attesting to all the Mobile World Capital Barcelona programmes and initiatives –mSchools, mLiving, mHealth, 4YFN and mVenturesBcn– welcome visitors to a stand clearly setting forth the three pillars underpinning the Foundation’s work: digital empowerment, transformation and innovation.

On the first day of the Congress the first themed tours organised by MWCapital departed from Stand CS70. These visits allow participants to see first-hand how various multinational companies operate and what they are presenting at the Congress. Thanks to these guided tours attendees can take better advantage of the experience entailed by participating in an international event of this magnitude.

Tour participants included representatives of the SME associations CTecno and APD, with which the foundation has signed cooperation agreements for the promotion of ICTs.

In the afternoon Mobile World Capital’s Digital Transfer Team took to the stand’s platform for talks to present its conclusions from the Mobile Ready initiative, which proposes innovative solutions for urban environments. The fourth edition of Mobile Ready focuses on the shopping experience, with solutions for smart shopping, home decoration drawing upon virtual reality, parking for connected cars and smart parking.
