Numa Barcelona, the first European acceleration programme for startups in the growth stage

Numa Barcelona, the first acceleration programme specifically created to target startups in their growth and expansion stages in European markets, open its doors to accelerate 30 startups, both Spanish and international, over the next three years.

The programme, driven by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona trought its mVentures Bcn programme, and NUMA, Europe’s leading accelerator, will mentor startups with an established business model to scale their projects and expand their activity into new international markets. It will also train them to secure funds and capture talent.

The registration period for the first edition of the programme is already open. All interested startups can apply and submit their proposals until 30 September. Over the next month, an expert committee will evaluate the submitted projects and select those with the most consolidated business models and with enough possibilities to scale globally.

NUMA Barcelona will accelerate 10 start-ups per year in the next 3 years starting from November, at its Palau de Mar Pier 01 offices. The acceleration process will culminate with a startups’ Demo Day at 4YFN 2017, under the auspices of the GSMA Mobile World Congress.

The Numa programme provides each accelerated startup with 30.000€ in convertible notes and access to a 1,5M€ follow-up fund to support their growth during and after the program. All in Exchange for a 5% equity stake of the companies. The programme also offers legal advice, as well as training in product management, tech development, sales operations, user aquisition, among others. the initiative has also allocated a further €1.5M for possible financial contributions after the programme has been completed. These investments will be made in startups whose proposals possess significant international potential in addition to a strong innovative element.

Numa Barcelona, which is headed by Pep Gómez (founder of Fever, the mobile platform that selects leisure options based on the user’s interests), has already signed mentors such as Gary Shainberg, the former CTO of British Telecom and co-founder of the World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneers programme; and Francisco Pérez, co-founder of Hawkers.
