The 5th mSchools Student Awards will take place on 9 June at La Farga activity centre in L’Hospitalet. This contest acknowledges the work done by students and teachers over the academic year with prizes for the best projects in the mSchools programme and their different initiatives.
The mSchools Student Awards is divided into three categories in which schools work on projects that apply technology to the centre’s daily routine: Mobile History Map, an educational tool that uses mobile technology to encourage crosscutting work through projects and enables students to geolocate points of interest close to their schools; App Education, focused on the design of apps and the development of prototypes; and Scratch Challenge, an education-oriented free software language that facilitates the creation of interactive stories, simulations, games and animations.
While looking forward to the 2018 edition we have taken a look at students’ experiences during the days prior to the mSchools Student Awards, and at how they received the news and have prepared their project.
Student finalists of the Scratch Challenge category explained how they have been learning programming in order to rise to this year’s challenge, which is entitled ‘When we grow up, we will be…’
The finalist teams in the Mobile History Map category have risen to the task of creating projects while making the most of their local surroundings and working on them in the classroom. They tell us their story:
Lastly, the teams selected for entry to the App Education category tell us about their experience creating an app and presenting it to a jury:
Since the start of this awards initiative in 2014 we have seen primary, secondary, high secondary and vocational training students demonstrating their creative capacity by presenting robotics projects, apps and wearables upon which they have worked jointly over the academic year.
In the last edition, the contest involved 4,000 participants and over 1,100 attendees! This year, the 5th edition will feature even more innovations, more prizes and, above all, more talent!
So, we look forward to seeing all you attendees on 9 June at the 5th edition of the mSchools Student Awards!
