The future of work in the digital era: the rise of labour platforms

The future of work has become a hot topic of discussion in recent years. Globalisation, demographic changes, automation and the rise of digital platforms are already generating profound changes in the workplace, the workforce, and the nature of work itself.

In our present day, the costs and benefits of platform work remains highly contested and regulating this new form of employment is a challenge for policymakers at both national and transnational levels.

This report addresses the opportunities and challenges faced by workers engaging in platform work. It concludes with the proposal of five initiatives aimed at addressing such challenges, to be further explored by governments and the private sector.
