One out of every five interviewees at the 3 speed dating events in 2019 (a total of 50 candidates) found work in one of the 68 participating companies
Barcelona, 20 December 2019.- Barcelona Digital Talent organised three speed dating events in 2019 to bring digital talent into contact with large corporations, SMEs and startups. The speed dating events were held at 4YFN, at Sónar+D and at the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress and involved 957 interviews with 277 candidates.
After these quick interviews, a total of 50 candidates were hired by some of the 68 companies that chose this way of finding new technological profiles, which means that 18% of them found work. The companies came mainly from the mass consumer, banking, consultancy, automotive, infrastructures and retail sectors. SEAT, Nestlé, CaixaBank, Ernst & Young, Schibsted, Meetoptics, Proppos and other major companies took part at the sessions.
According to Jordi Arrufí, Director of Digital Talent of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, “digital talent is a scarce asset governed by its own hiring dynamics. At Barcelona Digital Talent we therefore use the speed dating events to go one step further and transform the routines of seeking employment and hiring new talent”. At these speed dating events, companies sought very specific profiles such as software developers, data scientists, data analysts, PHP developers, Java developers, Full Stack developers, .NET advisors, mobile developers and IT security specialists.
This new method of mediation among candidates and companies makes it possible to generate new opportunities for junior profiles, young people and professionals from re-skilling programmes. At the 3 speed dating events held, 43% of participants were women and 40% were under 30 years old.
This action was led by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Barcelona Activa and CTecno and is part of Barcelona Digital Talent, an initiative to encourage market competitiveness and to fill the gap for digital talent.
