• The devices will be used to facilitate the communication of patients with their families, who are unable to accompany them. This donation is intended to provide assistance in the complex circumstances with which we are currently dealing because of the Covid-19 health crisis

Barcelona, 7 May 2020 – Barcelona Tech City and Mobile World Capital Barcelona donate over 200 tablets to Vall d’Hebron University Hospital through the campaign launched last April entitled “Tablets for (all) patients at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital”.

Through this initiative, over 200 tablets have been distributed to Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in order to enable hospitalised patients to maintain and improve contact with their families and those close to them. This donation is intended to do its bit to help in the complex circumstances with which we are currently dealing because of the Covid-19 health crisis.

Although cases of Covid-19 have fallen, most patients at Vall d’Hebron are still unable to receive visits from their families for epidemiological reasons. Barcelona Tech City and Mobile World Capital Barcelona wished to help by providing devices to improve contact between patients and those close to them. Videoconferencing is the best way of keeping them in contact with one another while also providing entertainment for hospitalised patients.

The project has been run using the migranodearena crowdfunding platform and has involved the essential collaboration of: Rakuten TV, Cisco, Makenai, Vodafone, Samsung Spain and SEUR.
