Barcelona, 9 March 2020.- Digital Future Society, which is promoted by the Third Vice-Presidency of the Government – Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital), has appointed Cristina Colom as the programme’s new director. Digital Future Society is a global initiative that was established to evaluate the impact of the technological revolution on society and the economy.
Cristina Colom has a degree in economics and postgraduate training in European Affairs and Social Media, and is an expert in corporate communication, marketing and social media. Colom has over 20 years’ experience in the public and private sectors and a proven track record in multilateral international organisations such as the European Commission and United Nations (from its Regional Commission in Latin America). Colom has also worked for the Regional Government of Catalonia as the coordinator of Barcelona’s candidature for the headquarters of the European Food Safety Authority and in the Catalonia Employment Service. To date she has held the post of Communications Manager at Shell Energy Europe.
As Director of Digital Future Society, Cristina Colom will lead one of the programme’s most ambitious projects, the world summit on technological governance, which will be held in Barcelona at the end of the year. The goal of the summit is to analyse the major challenges, opportunities and risks associated with technology transformation, with a view to advancing towards better digital governance.
