VOICES II – The challenge that teachers faced due to COVID: changing a model overnight

SHARE

The COVID pandemic has shaken our society. Overnight, everything we thought we knew had to be relearned as we adapted to an uncertain and changing environment. One of the worst affected sectors is education. With little or no capacity to plan ahead, students around the world were forced to leave their schools and shift towards virtual and distanced education.

Not only did students and families suffer from this headache, but also teachers and schools, who had to adopt new skills to communicate with their students in order to transmit their knowledge through a screen.

"Many teachers are faced with the problem that they don’t know whether students really know the answers to their questions, or whether they had copied them from the internet," explains Mario Harraez, Global Educator and International Speaker, who saw the pandemic as an opportunity to reformulate the education system.
