Mobile Community is born to bring together and bolster Catalonia’s mobile ecosystem

  • The community is an information hub furnishing mobile agents with visibility and networking capacity, and offering them specialised information, opportunities, and access to job offers
  • Backed by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, the City of Barcelona and the Regional Government of Catalonia, the project constitutes a new economic promotion tool

Mobile World Capital Barcelona, the City of Barcelona, and the Regional Government of Catalonia launched Mobile Community, the mobile sector’s premier forum of its kind, featuring contents, opportunities, and specialised services related to the mobile industry.

Mobile Community facilitates coordination between all the agents in Catalonia’s mobile ecosystem, both public and private, serving to reverse the sector’s current atomization. Its members enjoy public visibility and are able to access the community’s network of contacts (developers, user companies, entrepreneurs, investors, knowledge centres, etc.) and establish collaborative ties with other agents and communities. They also enjoy special features, such as a job board, and benefits and advantages offered by participating companies.

Mobile Community aims to generate a stable group drawing together Catalonia’s mobile industry and fortifying its ICT sector, which already boasts over 12,000 companies, 86,000 workers and 18 billion euros in revenues. The initiative also comes about with a dedication to promoting Barcelona as an internationally attractive city to spawn mobile businesses, and support the capture of foreign talent and investments.

A leading web portal for the mobile world

The centrepiece of the Mobile Community is its web portal, community.mobileworldcapital.com, a showcase for companies, entities, and projects devised to become the go-to resource for sector professionals.

The portal includes a Marketplace, a forum providing community members with visibility and promoting virtual relationships between them. The Marketplace also includes a job board listing positions in the mobile sector to promote employment in the field.

The Mobile Community web portal also features a calendar of mobile events held in Catalonia, relevant information and news, and a section for the exhibition of public and private projects related to the mobile industry. These projects help to position Catalonia as a world leader in the sector and are accommodated on the Mobile Community website.

The portal provides community members with a series of benefits, centring on products and services in areas like education, legal consultancy and marketing, among others. The Mobile Community is currently working with 10 collaborating agents offering these advantages. The objective is to gradually secure support from more organisations in order to offer a broader range of opportunities.
