Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCB) and the digital business cluster Ecommerce & Tech Barcelona have signed a collaboration agreement to promote entrepreneurship in the field of digital and technological business.
The agreement, signed by Miguel Vicente, president of Ecommerce & Tech Barcelona, and Agustín Cordón, Vice-president of MWCB, is designed to fortify the city of Barcelona’s position as one of the world’s leading digital and technological hubs. Both institutions will work to bolster entrepreneurial culture by connecting with smart money, relationships with universities and business schools, and links between well-established business people and neophyte entrepreneurs They will also boost the technology and digital sector as an economic driving force through the adaptation of the legal and fiscal environment to the reality of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Finally, MWCB and Ecommerce & Tech Barcelona will foment the technological transformation of the business community, mainly from the mobile sphere.
The collaboration will also generate synergies with Mobile World Congress and 4 Years From Now to spawn new training and business models, in addition to a program of joint activities and specific training for entrepreneurs.
According to MWCB Vice-president Agustín Cordón: “Barcelona boasts great potential for entrepreneurial growth which must be channeled and developed through forward-looking initiatives that produce value for the environment and citizens.” Cordón adds that “this opportunity for social and economic development linked to innovation and entrepreneurship has to be, at the same time, a global call for new initiatives at the international level.”

Barcelona: leader in digital business and mobile technology
Barcelona is a leader in the digital sector, both in Spain and among the countries of Southern Europe. Among the entities making up the city’s current digital ecosystem, 20 of their most prominent companies have an international presence in more than 40 countries, a turnover exceeding 5 billion euros, and more than 5,000 contracted professionals. These include eDreams, Privalia, Softonic, Let’s Bonus, Grupo Inspirit and Grupo ITnet, founding members of the Ecommerce & Tech Barcelona Tech cluster.
