Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCB) launches 4 Years From Now (4YFN), an international event devised to become the foremost week for entrepreneurship in the mobile universe. 4YFN will be held from 24 to 27 February 2014 in conjunction with the Mobile World Congress, the event seeking to highlight the importance of the entrepreneurial community.

4YFN comes as a response to the great importance that the MWCB assigns to programs focused on entrepreneurship and innovation as essential instruments to transform the industrial sector, together with those related to education, health, and smart cities.

Designed to enhance innovation and to help entrepreneurs and startups function as key agents in the economic and social environment sphere, 4YFN will bring together supply and demand while promoting the transmission of knowledge and networking between the different agents involved. More than 1,000 entrepreneurs, professionals, startups, accelerators, incubators, and investors from around the world will converge at the end of February in Barcelona to create and consolidate innovative and entrepreneurial projects.

4YFN is scheduled to run for four days. For the first three, from 24 to 26 February, the activities will be held at the Fira de Barcelona grounds in Montjuïc, taking advantage of the fact that the Mobile World Congress 2014 has recovered this facility. On 27 February 4YFN activities will be held at the Gran Via facility, where attendees will have the opportunity to schedule meetings with exhibiting companies and convention attendees.

Entrepreneurism, one of the cornerstones of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona

4YFN is just one of the initiatives backed by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona’s Program for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (PEI), one of the central elements of its current activity. Agustí Cordón, executive vice-president and general director of the MWCB Foundation: “4YFN represents a response to the desire to provide real support to the entrepreneurial sector, a strategic field not only for mobile transformation but also for economic and business development. The event will spotlight Barcelona and its entrepreneurial environment and function as a platform for the promotion of local initiatives in these areas.”

PEI and, by extension, 4YFN as well, is intended to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation, offer support to the business environment in the transfer of ideas, attract public-private investment in innovation, build a more competitive business sector, and attract the interest of investment funds to boost startups.

International experts, startups, and venture capital

4YFN presents a program that includes, in addition to informational sessions, exhibition spaces presenting incubators and local communities of entrepreneurs, as well as activities aimed at enabling the development of new entrepreneurship projects.

The event will also feature a series of pitch sessions by representatives from other companies, investors, and prominent venture capital funds in order to bolster the growth of these projects.

Another initiative scheduled for the first three days is to give attendees the chance to consult international experts from different sectors with their questions and be counseled on how to improve their projects.

4YFN is an event dedicated as well to the diffusion, promotion, and development of mobile knowledge. A forum to share know-how and experiences through an extensive program of talks, workshops, and support sessions offered by leading international professionals.
