Mobile World Capital Barcelona has an exhibition space at MWC Barcelona designed to showcase the latest trends in science and technology emerging from Barcelona and to position the city as a global innovation hub. At MWC26, the foundation presents ‘The Invisible Becomes Visible’, a journey through 20 years of MWC Barcelona that also anticipates the immediate future of five strategic sectors.
This year, MWCapital’s stand at MWC26 showcases how, over the past two decades, technology has transformed every aspect of our lives, becoming organically integrated into our daily routines to improve people’s quality of life and offer solutions to some of society’s greatest challenges. Through the stand’s experiences, the Foundation demonstrates how this technological revolution will continue to shape the future and transform strategic sectors such as health, food, industry, retail, and the future economy.

The session will explore how a company with 150 years of history has turned innovation into a constant driver of growth, enabling it to remain competitive and prepare for the future. Topics will range from operational efficiency, digitalisation and data to new brand experiences that connect with consumers.
Barcelona is consolidating itself as a true “digital agora”: a space where technological innovation is not only showcased, but also debated. In this context, digital transformation requires strong and strategic alliances between the public sector, the technology industry, and social stakeholders, capable of building stable frameworks, generating trust, and ensuring innovative development that integrates competitiveness and rights.

Crafting the Future is a roundtable discussion that highlights the value of “making” in the digital age: processes, materials, and the real impact of technology on the way we produce and build. Moderated by Eduard Martín (MWCapital), it brings together IAAC, Cerámica Cumella, and the CCAM to explore how technology can extend the human gesture and engage in dialogue with craftsmanship.

Generative AI is redefining digital channels by evolving from informational assistants to agents capable of recommending and executing actions, driving more immediate, personalised and proactive experiences. In this new paradigm, CaixaBank introduces AI as a strategic focus in a responsible manner and integrates business, impact measurement and data governance, translating them into real use cases that turn innovation into tangible and sustainable value.
A group of 40 IESE MBA students, together with the Learning Innovation Unit (LIU), will take part in a live session at our stand during MWC under the concept of Phygital: the atoms → bits → atoms loop, in which data from the physical world feeds AI and its decisions then impact reality.
As part of the 20th anniversary of MWC, we will connect the journey of the past 20 years with a forward-looking view of the next 20, analyzing AI as a three-layer stack (infrastructure, models, and applications) and contrasting, based on what is observed at MWC, what is actually deployable with demos and claims.

Technological sovereignty is meaningless if it does not reach the productive fabric. It is not an abstract objective, but a direct driver of business competitiveness: it enables the acceleration of home-grown innovation, the creation of European value chains, the consolidation of local and regional suppliers, and the development of proprietary cloud infrastructures and digital solutions.

The 2030 Agenda and ESG criteria have guided the strategy of companies and public institutions for more than a decade. However, the current context — marked by geopolitical tensions, competitive pressure, technological sovereignty and the rise of AI — is pushing sustainability into the background. In addition, the latest UN reports indicate that many SDGs are not progressing at the necessary pace.
In this scenario, the roundtable will address how to ensure that ethics and sustainability remain structural priorities, especially in the public sector, whose mandate is to generate shared value and trust.
We will analyse the role of technology and AI as drivers of excellence and efficiency, as well as the risks involved if they are not integrated within a solid governance framework.
At MWCapital, we approach this from the perspective of “Humanizing Technology.” We will share experiences from organisations that use the EFQM model to align leadership, purpose, people, processes and results.
