Consult the fifth edition of our annual report, driven by Mobile World Capital with the aim of discovering the impact and evolution of the digital talent gap, global trends, and the different lines of action proposed to attract higher quality talent to the ecosystem.

The report shows that Barcelona reached 100,920 digital professionals in 2022, representing an increase of 7.9% compared to the previous year. Over the last 5 years, the demand for digital professionals has more than doubled, going from 15,856 to 33,624 annual job offers. This translates into a 49% increase since 2018.

If we analyze the weight of digital job offers compared to the total number of sectors, it was 11% in 2018, and in 2022 it has increased to 26%. Consequently, one in four job postings corresponds to digital professions.

The presence of women in the digital sector in Barcelona is consolidating. While there were around 15,000 women working in digital professions in 2018, in 2022 there are more than 29,000. This acceleration has led to an increase in the presence of women among digital professionals from 22% to 28.7%.

Barcelona continues to be a benchmark in attracting international profiles, with one-third of the city's digital professionals being international (32.4%). Over the last five years, Barcelona has attracted around 14,000 professionals from outside the city, including 3,300 professionals in 2022.

"Organizations worldwide have ambitious plans to become more digital and sustainable in an environment where technological cycles are increasingly rapid, leading to disruptive and constant changes in the way we work. The next decade will be defined by three technological megatrends: the cloud, the metaverse, and artificial intelligence, which will give rise to new professions and an increase in digital professions. Companies must attract and retain the best talent to make this transformation a reality, drive innovation, and gain a competitive advantage."
