Mobile Week Coruña presents a programme of over 100 speakers that will deal with the impact of digitalisation on society

The presentation of the contents of Mobile Week Coruña 2018 took place this morning in the auditorium of the University of A Coruña. This is a city initiative that is intended to turn sites for innovation and cultural, scientific and research centres into meeting places for all types of citizen groups.

The proposal is based on “the everyday future” and will take place from 21 to 28 November 2018. Mobile Week Coruña will feature over 40 activities, 100 speakers, artists and workshop organisers, and will be held at 20 venues in the city of A Coruña, in its metropolitan area and in Santiago de Compostela. Entry to all of them will be free and open to all the public.

The presentation was attended by Mr Julio Abalde, Rector of the UDC, Mr Mariano Gómez-Ulla de Irazazabal, Chairman of Club Financiero Atlántico, Mr Esteban Redolfi, Director of Mobile Week at Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Mrs María José R. Malmierca, Director of Mobile Week Coruña activities, and Mr Guillermo Taboada, Executive Director of Mobile Week Coruña.

Encouraging reflection

The programme presented is based on six core areas for reflection on major issues that will influence our society’s evolution. It will specifically deal with “the classroom of the future”, focused on the change that will be experienced not only in education, but also on young people’s learning both inside and outside schools. “Galicia Future Territory” will approach the challenges already being raised by digital transformation and innovation both for citizens and for companies while “Digital Revolution at Work”, along the same lines, will explore the impact of digitalisation on the employment market. The block “Communication and democracy” will deal with how new technologies will directly influence the management of cities and citizen-government interaction.

With the basic objective of encouraging in-depth reflection, there will be two further themes entitled “Digital Future for all?” and “Ethics and technology”, which will focus on the potential, the values and the challenges associated with digitalisation and, in short, on the model of society that we are building.
