Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) presents the first Mobile Week Coruña, an initiative that combines art, science and technology to create spaces of joint reflection on digital transformation and its impact on today’s society. The everyday future is the core topic of the initiative, placing the general public at the heart of the technological revolution.
Between 21 and 28 November, Mobile Week Coruña is offering a free, cross-cutting programme in over 20 spaces around the 10 districts of the city of A Coruña, its metropolitan area and the Cidade da Cultura (City of Culture) of Santiago de Compostela. Conferences, talks, round tables, demos, art exhibitions, workshops and children’s activities, among others, will take place to discuss the challenges, limits and opportunities of digital transformation.
The initiative divides its programme into four areas of activity: mWeek TALKS, a debate agora to reflect on how the digital revolution influences the lives of people; mWeek LAB, with demos and workshops on culture, technology, robotics and science; mWeek KIDS, with activities for the whole family; and lastly, mWeek GALLERY, a parallel cultural programme organised in cooperation with local institutions and organisations that will lead to guided tours and art exhibitions.
The impact of Mobile Week Coruña is felt by the entire city
Mobile Week Coruña is an initiative by MWCapital that, after being held twice in Barcelona, now takes the leap to A Coruña to promote debate on the social, economic and cultural implications of digital transformation on the Atlantic Axis. This first event is supported by A Coruña City Council and different public and private facilities, areas of innovation and science museums, the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government of Galicia) through the Axencia de Modernización Tecnolóxica (Technology Modernisation Agency) and Club Financiero Atlántico (Atlantic Financial Club).
To encourage reflection on digital transformation and promote the role of the Atlantic Axis as a key player in local digitalisation, Mobile Week Coruña will include speakers who are experts in innovation, such as Silvia Leal, professionals from the digital sector, such as Adolfo Fernández (Google), and university representatives, such as Carmen Fernández Morante, dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
