AMETIC, the association of digital technology companies in Spain, and 5GBarcelona, the alliance formed to create a neutral, open hub for testing and implementing 5G technology in Barcelona, have signed a partnership agreement to promote 5G pilot projects.

Specifically, the agreement will allow AMETIC to participate in 5GBarcelona initiatives involving connected cars, urban mobility, public healthcare, the promotion of digital tourism, etc. The partnership will also make it easier to identify key companies in the TIC sector and boost their participation in the various pilot projects promoted by 5GBarcelona.

Pedro Mier, President of AMETIC, commented at the signing that, “AMETIC is delighted to be joining the 5GBarcelona project and adopting the goal of promoting 5G technology and its applications. We are convinced that this partnership between our members and the 5GBarcelona alliance will give rise to innovative products and services that will contribute to positioning Barcelona as a world leader in the development of 5G technology and its applications.”

Carlos Grau, CEO of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, co-signed the agreement on behalf of 5GBarcelona and added that, “AMETIC is a strategic partner for broadening the impact of 5GBarcelona and increasing the project’s reach.” Grau also pointed out that, “The ITC sector is fully committed to 5GBarcelona and establishing the city as a leading international hub for this technology. It is the only way to grow, make things happen in our country and create projects that will have a global impact.”
