4YFN brings together more than 60 international investors in Shanghai

  • Members of 4YFN’s Investors Club, comprised of an international community of financiers, will congregate at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai to connect with the Asian entrepreneurial community
  • The winning startup of the pitching competition at 4YFN Shanghai will earn its own space at 4YFN 2017 in Barcelona
  • A delegation of 16 Spanish companies, with support from MWCapital, along with the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, RED.es, the Regional Government of Catalonia, ACCIÓ, and the City Council of Barcelona, through the city’s Promotional Bureau, will have an exhibition space at the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Pavilion

4 Years From Now (4YFN), the global business platform for the growing community of technology startups, promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and the GSMA, will bring together more than 60 international investors from June 28 until July 1 as part of the GSMA Mobile World Congress Shanghai.

This group of investors, members of 4YFN’s Investors Club platform, are primarily from Asia and Europe and include Spain’s Francisco Badia (Impulse2grow), Christopher Maynard (H2A Ventures) and Juan Álvarez (Seed&Click), among others. On Tuesday, June 28, 25 members of the community of investors and ICT sector professionals will take a tour exhibiting Shanghai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. During this activity the group will visit Chinaccelerator, Asia’s leading acceleration programme, and Xinchejian, China’s first hackerspace, a coworking community to carry out technological and computer projects. At both stops they will participate in pitching sessions with the startups forming part of these two initiatives.

On June 29, coinciding with the opening of the Congress, the activity will move to the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), where investors will be able to participate in multiple pitching sessions by companies and startups in attendance, in addition to other networking activities.

4YFN, a showcase for 100 startups

The Health, Entertainment and Tourism sectors will be those most represented amongst the 100 local and international startups – some of them from European and Asian delegations – with an exhibition space at the Shanghai edition of 4YFN. Among them is Blitab (Austria), a company that developed the first tablet featuring a braille code reproduction system for the visually impaired; Unmaned (London), creators of the first autonomous drone for postal service operators at the global level; and Safe Chats (Singapore), an encrypted communication platform that won the Asian finals of the Global Mobile Challenge and competed in the world finals of the contest held at the last 4YFN in Barcelona.

The exhibition area will also feature the following delegations: the European Young Innovators Forum, Hong Kong Cyberport, Jordanian Pavilion, Shenzhen Pavilion, Tencent Pavilion, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Silk Ventures and Chinaccelerator, among others.

A bridge to 4YFN 2017 in Barcelona

The Shanghai edition of 4YFN revolves around three main areas of activity. First, it boasts an extensive line-up of talks by professionals who are experts in innovation, entrepreneurship and the latest digital trends. Confirmed speakers include Yossi Vardi, Honorary President of 4YFN; Ignacio Martinez Trujillo, Managing Director Innovation and Global Development of LaLiga; Saket Modi, CEO of Lucideus Tech, serial entrepreneur and member of Forbes Asia’s “30 under 30” list; Bessie Lee, CEO of WPP China; and Adam Lashinsky, Editorial Director of Fortune Brainstorm Tech and Asst. Managing Editor of Fortune.

Attendees will also be able to attend a broad range of workshops, including: ‘How to Do Business in Silicon Valley, Europe and China: Pros and Cons’, by Eneko Knorr, Founder and CEO of Ludei; ‘Angel Investment in Spain and Europe’, by Juan Álvarez, CEO of Seed & Click; and ‘How to Pitch the Press in Europe’, by Tilo Bonow, CEO of PIABO.

Finally, 4YFN Shanghai will include a Founders&Investors pitching area where all the entrepreneurs and startups at the event can present their projects to investors, companies and other attendees. This area will also host other activities such as the MobileMonday China Startup Competition 2016 Finals. The startup with the most disruptive digital project will have the chance to participate in the “Mobile Innovation: The Startup Pitch Challenge” session, which will be held on Thursday, June 30 as part of Mobile World Congress Shanghai conference programme. 4YFN will also open up its main stage to the competition’s five most innovative projects, which will be able to present their creations and win a space at 4YFN 2017 in Barcelona.
