4 Years From Now (4YFN), the international mobile entrepreneurship event organised by Mobile World Capital Barcelona in conjunction with the Mobile World Congress, will open its doors on Monday, February 24, with the inclusion of revolutionary Beacon technology. The Beacons, which make it possible to turn static facilities into interactive environments, are now being introduced into the market as an innovative and energy-efficient solution facilitating card-free payment and the promotion of discounts at stores; when approaching a given product shelf customers receive promotional information just by having their mobile device near a Beacon point.
4YFN will install 20 Beacon points at its facilities. When attendees approach these points they will receive messages on their smartphones with exclusive and personalized content. Each Beacon will be programmed to provide a specific kind of information, such as a hyperlink to an image gallery of the convention, a reminder regarding the next event scheduled on the nearby stage, or a profile of the speaker currently appearing, among other experiences. 4YFN will also include Audi cars in which users can check out this technology.
The process to be able to experience this Beacon technology is very simple: 4YFN attendees scan the QR code that they will find at the entrance to the event, which will direct them to the app store, where they can download the free 4YFN Experience application. Once downloaded attendees just activate their mobile devices’ Bluetooth and geolocation features in order to enjoy the Beacon experience and share it on social networks.
