Mobile World Capital Barcelona, in collaboration with GSMA Foundry and B Lab Spain, is launching international awards to recognize and reward the best innovative projects in responsible digital transition that contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda SDGs and the generation of positive impact.

Before submitting, ensure your project meets the key criteria.
Check out all the details regarding the Rules of Entry.
→ The organization presenting the project must have been in operation for more than 12 months at the time of the entry.
→ The project is partially or fully implemented at the time of submission and has measurable results.
→ The project values technology as a lever to achieve a sustainable future: more inclusive, equitable and responsible.
→ The project demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ESG by integrating sustainability through a transversal perspective: it is aligned with the organization’s sustainability strategy.

Participation is voluntary and free of charge and is open to any legal organization without restriction due to size or geographical location.
Therefore, all organizations classified in one of these five categories can participate:
→ Companies
→ Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and Startups
→ Non-profit and Benefit and Common Benefit and Interest Societies (SBIC)
→ Academia and Research centers
→ Public institutions
Additionally, the organization must have a minimum of 12 months of operation.

Common Benefit and Interest Societies (SBIC) are companies that, beyond meeting criteria for social, environmental, and good governance (ESG), use private resources to achieve a triple positive impact on society, whether it’s economic, social and/or environmental.
In other words, they choose to commit to generating a positive impact and include this decision in their bylaws. They subject themselves to higher levels of transparency and accountability and consider relevant stakeholders in decision-making.
To participate, you must click here and fill in the form with the requested information. Once done, you can attach any documents you deem necessary for your application, although these will not be evaluable.
The Mobile World Capital AWARDS aim to recognize the best innovative technology-based projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), responsible digital transition and triple positive impact.
The form asks you to choose firstly up to 3 SDGs that your project impacts or seeks to impact, in order of priority. This selection is not evaluable, but later on, we will be asking you whether the project contributes to one or more SDGs deemed relevant in the ecosystem in which it operates (for example, lagging SDGs).
B Lab is a non-profit organization founded to transform the economy for the benefit of all people and the planet. In other words, it creates standards, policies, tools and impact programs for companies and verifies the community of companies known as B Corps, which leads the transformation towards a new economic paradigm.
Being a B Corp means meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. This standard demonstrates that the organization that has passed it is focused on creating social, environmental, and economic value for all its stakeholders.
In this edition of the Mobile World Capital AWARDS, B Lab plays a key role as a strategic partner, serving as a jury and also mentoring the 15 finalists towards obtaining the B Impact Assessment report.
Yes, regardless of when you completed the assessment and went through the process to become a B Corp, you must retake the questionnaire if you want it to be part of the evaluation.
Aside from the awards, the assessment is an added value as it is a very useful diagnostic and analytical tool for understanding the ESG performance of organizations, areas for improvement and a great support in impact decision-making. Did you know that over 80% of organizations that have completed the Assessment say it is a good guide for improving their impact?
Yes, the B Impact Assessment is an online, free, and confidential impact measurement and management tool available to any organization and already used by almost 300,000 users. The questionnaire from this assessment (BIA) is a very useful diagnostic and analysis tool for any type of entity, even if it’s not eligible to become a B Corp.
One of MWCapital’s goals is to position Barcelona as a hub for attracting digital talent and as a centre for responsible digital transition. Therefore, the Barcelona Horizon Award stands out as a financial contribution of up to €50,000 to pilot in the city the chosen project among 15 finalists.
That’s why we have established scalability in Barcelona as one of the criteria. It will be evaluated in both rounds of evaluations and, with the information you provide, we seek to understand the project’s ability to identify the city’s specific context, as well as the ideal scenario and requirements for a successful implementation.
Yes. You can submit multiple applications from the same organization, as we award projects, not who applies.
No. Once you submit your application definitively, you will not be able to make any modifications. However, you can save it as a draft as many times as you need and make the necessary modifications.
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, your application will not go through. You must make sure you meet the requirements before submitting your application, otherwise it will be automatically discarded. We strongly recommend carefully reading the Rules of Entry to make sure your project complies with the requirements.
