4YFN touches down in Asia with its own 3,000-m2 space at Mobile World Congress Shanghai

• For the first time Mobile World Capital Barcelona and the GSMA are promoting an edition of 4YFN at Mobile World Congress Shanghai with more than 100 Eurasian startups and delegations, such as those supported by Tencent and Qualcomm Technologies
• 4YFN Shanghai will showcase the main features of China’s innovative ecosystem through a tour for the international entrepreneurial community
• For the second straight year MWCapital, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, represented by Red.es, Generalitat de Catalunya with ACCIÓ, and the Barcelona City Hall, through Barcelona Activa, are organising a business mission to the Asian congress, enlisting 16 Spanish companies

4 Years From Now (4YFN), Mobile World Capital Barcelona and GSMA’s global business platform for the growing community of technology startups will hold the first edition of their event for entrepreneurs in Asia at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, from 29 June to 1 July, 2016.

The Shanghai edition of 4YFN will cover 3,000 m² in the Mobile World Congress exhibition at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, bringing together more than 100 local and international startups and European and Asian delegations, with a view to promoting international entrepreneurial talent in Asia. Delegations already confirmed include the Daegu Korea Pavilion, European Young Innovators Forum, Hong Kong Cyberport, Hong Kong Science Park, Jordanian Pavilion, KAIT Korea Pavilion, Shenzhen Pavilion, Tencent Pavilion and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., among others.

The new edition will also serve to connect the global entrepreneurial community with major Chinese corporations and institutions through a tour exhibiting the highlights of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Shanghai.

The latest mobile trends

The programme at 4YFN Shanghai will revolve around three main themes: “From Innovation to Business,” “Disrupted by Mobile” and “Digital Media,” with the event taking an in-depth look at the latest trends in mobile technology and analysing the digital transformation of industry, business, and the media.
For three days more than 40 technology leaders will share their experiences and share the latest trends shaping the future in the field of digital entrepreneurship. The line-up will also include 12 specialised workshops on internationalisation, fintech, corporate venturing, and the development of digital businesses in the Asian and European markets.

Giving startups a voice

4YFN will also feature Startup Pitching Sessions, an open mic format for startups to present their projects to investors, companies and other entrepreneurs. The participants’ most innovative projects will be selected so that their potential can be presented on 4YFN’s main stage. The top project will receive special recognition, with the individuals leading it having the opportunity to travel to Barcelona and participate in 4YFN at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2017.

Startups and investors will also have a specific area for meetings and after-work functions in order to encourage interaction between the community’s different agents.

MWCapital’s on-going presence at the Asian Congress

MWCapital will be present for the second straight year at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, with a delegation of 16 Spanish companies, after taking 9 technology- and innovation-linked companies there in 2015. The effort, supported in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, represented by Red.es, Generalitat de Catalunya with ACCIÓ, and the Barcelona City Hall, through Barcelona Activa, demonstrates the Spanish technology sector’s potential, promotes the creation of synergies with local stakeholders, and addresses opportunities for the generation of business on the continent.

The activities undertaken by the MWCapital Foundation, in the fields of education, health and digital transformation and innovation, will also be on display at the facility.
