Barcelona, 10th of March 2022.– A total of 16 territories throughout Catalonia will organise activities as part of Mobile Week Catalunya 2022, the fourth edition of a Mobile World Capital Barcelona initiative promoted together with the Generalitat de Catalunya to bring technology closer to citizens. Mobile Week Catalunya 2022 aims to minimise the digital divide among citizens, providing tools and resources to tackle day-to-day issues such as digital rights, entertainment and new digital media, professional digital skills, education, or disinformation.

To do so, 8 municipalities from Barcelona (Badalona, Centelles, Mataró, Olesa de Montserrat, Terrassa, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Pere de Ribes – Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú); 2 from Central Catalonia (Manresa and Igualada); 2 from the area of Girona (Girona and Figueres); 2 from Lleida (Lleida and Mollerussa); 1 from the Alt Pyrenees (La Seu d’Urgell) and 1 from the Terres de l’Ebre region (Ribera de Ebro) will be part of the fourth edition of Mobile Week Catalunya, which will be held between the 25 th of April and the 31st of May.

This edition will focus on topics such as the protection of citizens digital rights, disinformation, and data privacy; digital skills and the key role of education in training young people and, at the same time, promoting the increase of female profiles in STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Graphic Arts and Mathematics); or the exploration of new digital tools and media in the field of culture and entertainment.

All the cities and territories that applied to participate in the fourth edition of Mobile Week Catalunya submitted a preliminary project with a brief outline of the content and duration of the event, which may differ between 3 and 5 days. A team formed by leading members of Mobile World Capital Barcelona and the Department of the Vice-Presidency and Digital Policies and Territory assessed the proposals submitted, from which they selected the 16 territories that will host Mobile Week Catalunya 2022.
