- The offices are adapting to a new organizational model that encourages remote work, mobility and goal-oriented work

Barcelona, 23 September 2020 – Mobile World Capital Barcelona is leaving the MediaTIC building and bringing all its activity together at Pier01 Barcelona Tech City. This decision is intended to reinforce ties with the local ecosystem and to strengthen Barcelona’s position as mobile world capital. The site has been refurbished to provide flexible, dynamic offices that are capable of adapting to MWCapital’s new organizational model, in which remote work, mobility and goal-oriented work will be encouraged
MWCapital’s facilities at Pier01 Barcelona Tech City have hitherto been occupied by its innovation programme, The Collider, and the 14 startups incorporated since its creation (2017). In this new stage, the site will also include the activity of the Foundation’s technology section and will offer a permanent showcase for proposals developed at 5G Barcelona such as a holographic pyramid and a map that displays 5G research activity and pilot trials in the city of Barcelona, plus The Thinx 5G Barcelona laboratory, which is being promoted jointly with Telefónica. The site will likewise host MWCapital’s talent-related activity, through Barcelona Digital Talent, and the work of Digital Future Society to evaluate the impact of technology on our society.
At the first meeting of the Foundation and Barcelona Tech City at MWCapital’s new headquarters, Carlos Grau, CEO of MWCapital, stated that “this decision enhances the bond between the two institutions and opens up new channels of collaboration that should be explored in the coming months”. Miquel Martí, CEO of Barcelona Tech City, also added that “it is an honour for the association to host at our Pier 01 site a key organisation for the evolution of Barcelona’s technological ecosystem. This close contact will enable us to consolidate current joint projects and to create future ventures”.
