Mobile World Capital Barcelona showcases the potential of Catalan deep tech spin-offs at MWC25 Doha

  • Seven deep tech spin-offs born in MWCapital’s technology transfer programme, The Collider, present innovative solutions in health, energy and digitalisation at the new MWC Doha.
  • The companies will participate in the Pitching Stage on November 26 in front of international investors at 4YFN Doha.

Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) participates in the first edition of MWC Doha with a delegation made up of spin-offs from its program The Collider, accompanied by the Secretary of Digital Policies of the Government of Catalonia, Maria Galindo. The initiative aims to promote technology transfer between the academic world and the market, connecting Catalan companies with international investors. The event will take place on November 25 and 26 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), within the framework of 4YFN Doha, the global event for startups and investors.

With this delegation, Mobile World Capital Barcelona brings the talent and innovation of Catalan spin-offs to the first MWC Doha, showing on an international stage the potential of an ecosystem that is growing strongly. As pointed out in the latest report ‘The deep tech spin-offs ecosystem in Spain 2025’ developed by MWCapital, in Catalonia there are currently 283 companies that have emerged from universities and research centres. A large part of these companies specialises in fields such as Biotechnology, Health and ICT.

Francesc Fajula, CEO of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, explains how this delegation reinforces the connection between academic knowledge and the global market. “We want to show the world a decisive area for the development of key science-based technologies: technology transfer. This process is the best guarantee to achieve technological sovereignty, promoting innovation and strengthening the competitiveness of our ecosystem”. The Collider is MWCapital’s program that transforms scientific research into viable business projects, connecting universities, research centers, corporations and investors. Thanks to this programme, more than 200 projects have been accompanied, and more than 23 technological spin-offs have been created, consolidating Barcelona as a leading innovation hub in southern Europe.

The seven spin-offs selected to participate in the MWC in Doha are:

  • AllRead – Advanced computer vision and deep learning solutions to automate the reading of text and code in industrial environments.
  • Yplasma – Plasma-based technologies to create innovative biomaterials applied to regenerative medicine and wound care.
  • Nanochronia – Nanoscale sensors for real-time gas detection, with applications in industrial safety and energy.
  • UniSCool – Efficient cooling systems for data centres and telecommunications, reducing energy consumption and costs.
  • Cooling Photonics – Passive radiative cooling technology that lowers the temperature without electricity, contributing to sustainability.
  • Dipneo – Compact emergency ventilation device outside the hospital environment, designed for critical situations.
  • Nema Health – Biotechnology platform for personalized immunotherapies against cancer, based on neoantigens and DIF peptides.
