Mobile World Centre hosts competition for the greatest university talent to develop projects in technology and mobile ventures

  • Around a hundred university students under the age of 25 from over thirty countries gathered for two days in the setting of the first KAIROS MOBILE SUMMIT
  • The students had access to assistance from mentors of international prestige in developing projects in technology and mobile ventures in the fields of smart cities, mHealth, and state policy

The Mobile World Center, the permanent exhibition center of Mobile World Capital Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya, hosted the first Kairos Mobile Summit, a congress of entrepreneurs with some exceptional players: around a hundred young students from the most prestigious universities across the world, in addition to the 20 most innovative starts-ups established by university students worldwide. On Friday and Saturday, they focused on a competition for developing projects involving the fields of smart cities, mHealth, and state policy, turning them into entrepreneurial solutions that could solve global challenges.

To do this, these young students had the support of reference monitors in their spheres of action: Xavier Longan, coordinator of the United Nations program, Millennium Campaign in Barcelona; Pablo Rodríguez, Director of Research and Innovation of Telefonica Digital or Antony Brey, CEO of Urbiotica. These are just some of the experts taking part in the day’s congress at the Mobile World Center.

Among the initiatives that stood out were vaccine technology to combat cancer, teaching the body’s immune cells to recognize and eradicate tumors; a system for sending remittances between continents in the form of gift cards; and a new way of helping scientists market and report on their research. All these projects come from young entrepreneurs between 18 and 25 years old.
