Mobile World Centre: interactive exhibits to make the summer more “mobile”

Sweatshirts connected to mobiles, multi-touch tables, a retrospective of newspaper covers prominently featuring mobiles, and mobiles from the 80s, are some of the objects that can be seen at the four temporary exhibits hosted by the Mobile World Centre this summer.

With these four exhibits Mobile World Capital Barcelona presents a sweeping overview of the world of mobile technology, allowing visitors to explore the past, present, and future of mobile technologies.

The four exhibitions will run through 30 September and can be visited from Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am – 9:30 pm:

Mobilized: a reflection on the social impact of mobile devices through artistic expressions such as photography, graphic design, and experimental videos.

The exhibition presents a selection of pictures taken by Barcelona photographers showing the everyday presence of mobiles in different settings. It also includes images capturing the role played by these devices in different places around the world, and at noteworthy historical events, along with a retrospective of publication covers featuring mobiles, including Der Spiegel, Life, and The Economist, among others, to illustrate the mobile’s penetration into all areas of society, all around the globe.

Prototypes of wearable technology, by Cetemmsa: A look at the latest trends in wearables, smart clothes, and the possibilities opening up with the incorporation of technology into this sector.

A sweatshirt with an LED screen connected to a mobile, a bicycle with electroluminescent technology on the frame, or saddle bags with flexible photovoltaic panels for charging one’s mobile, are some of the devices which can be seen at this exhibition, organized by Cetemmasa’s R&D technological center.

DigaliX multi-touch tables for all:the exhibition allows one to test out two units of the Xtable Xs by DigaliX – a Catalonian company dedicated to the production of large-format interactive tables.

These 42-inch tables feature screens that can detect the movements of multiple people and even objects. For the exhibition, DigaliX has prepared different themed experiences on mSchools, mHealth, or Cooking for all who interact with these devices.

Historic mobiles:  an exhibit on old mobiles that allows one to appreciate the evolution and trends in these devices over time.

The 1988 Ericsson Hotline and Mitsubishi ITT, Motorola Micro Tac (1989), the Nokia Communicator 9110i (1999), the Nokia N Gage (2003), and the Motorola RAZR V3R (2004) are some of the models that will be on display.
