Mobile World Capital Barcelona is presenting ‘Living in Tech’ at MWC25, an immersive exhibition showcasing the technologies transforming everyday life and shaping new urban environments. MWCapital’s stand becomes a vast digital agora where visitors can interact with innovations that drive social well-being, sustainability, and economic growth.

Through an innovative design, MWCapital’s space at MWC25 recreates a “digital loggia”, a symbolic space inspired by classical agoras and porticoed squares, blending the physical and digital worlds. Under its columns, ‘Living in Tech’ invites visitors to discover the technologies of Society 5.0, a concept originating in Japan that describes a new paradigm where humanoid robots, supercomputers, and virtual assistants coexist naturally with humans to enhance their quality of life.

Through five interactive experiences, MWCapital demonstrates how technology becomes a tool to tackle major social challenges, especially in urban environments, such as reducing the carbon footprint, improving public services, and assisting an ageing population. Today, 56% of the global population lives in cities, which generate 70% of greenhouse gas emissions, and projections indicate that by 2030, one in six people worldwide will be 60 years or older.

“Technology is not only a driver of progress but also a tool that contributes to collective well-being through innovations that integrate into our lives to create more welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable environments,” highlights MWCapital’s CEO, Francesc Fajula.

‘Living in Tech’ or how technology redefines everyday life

MWCapital’s stand presents five experiences, developed in collaboration with leading companies and institutions in digital innovation, that showcase the evolution of technology towards generating solutions with social and environmental impact, transforming sectors such as mobility, education, healthcare, and consumer habits, among others.

The ‘Robotising Your Life’ experience, designed in collaboration with Invelon, presents a humanoid robot that interacts with visitors and highlights the potential of robotics, which is already transforming sectors such as healthcare, security, and personal assistance.

With ‘Barcelona in Your Pocket’, MWCapital and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) showcases the latest developments in Barcelona’s digital twin, allowing real-time visualisation of key city data, such as traffic conditions, library occupancy, climate shelters, and air quality.

The ‘Mind Your Delivery’ experience, developed with Barcelona City Council and EIT Urban Mobility, illustrates how our choices impact the urban environment and quality of life. Visitors stand in front of a map of Barcelona and must select a vehicle for goods distribution in the city centre. Their choice has real-time consequences for traffic, air quality, and operational efficiency.

The ‘Have a Good Impact!’ tool, developed by MWCapital and CaixaBank, introduces a machine that calculates users’ personal ecological footprint. Through a brief questionnaire, key aspects of consumption and lifestyle are assessed, and recommendations are provided to encourage more sustainable habits.

Finally, ‘Connecting Cultures’, a collaboration between MWCapital and Vueling, demonstrates how virtual reality has become a strategic tool for professional training and how technological innovations enhance user experience in environments such as air travel.
