Talent Arena opened the doors to its second edition this Monday at Fira Montjuïc with the aim of placing digital talent at the centre of the global technology debate. Driven by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and co-located with MWC Barcelona and 4YFN, the event brings together developers, students, leading companies and tech communities from today until 4 March in a space designed to connect knowledge, industry and professional opportunities.

Following a first edition that welcomed more than 20,000 attendees, Talent Arena is expanding this year with more content, new formats and ambition to respond to a global context marked by the acceleration of artificial intelligence, the transformation of production models and growing competition for highly skilled digital talent. The event strengthens its role as a platform connecting professionals and companies at a time when demand for technology profiles continues to rise worldwide.

With more than 200 international speakers, the programme combines leading figures from the technology ecosystem with hands-on experiences, specialised workshops and hackathons focused on solving real-world challenges.

One of the key new features of this edition is the XPRO Zone, designed as a dedicated space for working professionals and developers seeking advanced content and strategic networking opportunities. With more than 72 conferences and 15 workshops, this area strengthens the commitment to technical specialisation and continuous upskilling in a rapidly evolving technological environment.

Francesc Fajula, CEO of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, stated that “Talent Arena is a platform that drives the future of digital talent at a global level,” adding that this second edition “reinforces its ambition to become a strategic event and to continue connecting talent with the trends and opportunities that are transforming the technology sector.”

2026 edition: headline speakers, hackathons and technological trends

The first day focuses on the intersection of technology, creativity and scientific innovation. Figures such as DJ and entrepreneur Steve Aoki; NASA’s Lunar Recycle Challenge winner, María Jesús Puerta; and NewSpace leader Bianca Cefalo will take to the stage to explore how technological talent is impacting fields as diverse as space, entrepreneurship and the creative industries.

In parallel, complementary sessions across the Talks stages will address key topics such as the application of AI in healthcare, the growing importance of soft skills in digital environments, STEM vocations and the challenges linked to technological sovereignty, with a focus on semiconductors and microchips, among others.

Hackathons running throughout the event will also kick off, alongside practical workshops led by communities and companies including Google Developers Group, Dynatrace and Sage.

Tuesday will feature some of the most anticipated sessions, offering in-depth reflections on the present and future of the internet and artificial intelligence. Tim Berners-Lee will provide a unique perspective on the evolution of the web, while Kate Darling will share her expertise in robotics and technology ethics.

In the afternoon, the GSMA Open Gateway Devcon will take centre stage with talks, demos and experiences focused on new models based on open APIs. The day will conclude with the recognition ceremony for several hackathons and a celebration bringing together the developer community at the heart of Talent Arena, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the event.

On Wednesday, the focus will shift to the future of work and talent management in the age of AI through the Next HR track. Companies such as Connectio, ISDIN, Unilever and SEAT will share experiences on smart recruitment, data-driven leadership and people-centred organisations in an increasingly automated environment.

Speakers will also include Francesco Fabri, Research Scientist at Spotify; Tammy Okwara, Cloud Solutions Architect at Microsoft; and Sergio Gago, who will lead a CTO session focused on learning through failure.

Barcelona: an European tech hub and driver of digital talent

Talent Arena takes place at a time when Barcelona is consolidating its position as a leading European technology hub. Catalonia is home to 203 international technology hubs, generating an aggregated economic impact of more than €4.1 billion.

This ecosystem, combined with the city’s ability to attract international talent and provide a competitive environment for project scalability, positions Barcelona among Europe’s foremost innovation capitals.

Jordi Arrufí, Director of the Digital Talent Area at Mobile World Capital Barcelona, highlighted: “Barcelona’s network of technology hubs enables professionals to grow and drive innovation across the sector at a European and global level,” adding that Talent Arena is the space where this ecosystem becomes tangible, directly connecting talent with companies, communities and opportunities.
