Mobile Week arrives in the Canary Islands to promote digital inclusion and empowerment


  • Mobile Week is a meeting point for innovation and citizens where the latter discover how technology can improve their lives and learn how to use it in their everyday lives.

  • The event will take place from December 13 to 16 in Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and San Bartolomé de Tirajana) and Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Adeje), coinciding with the OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting.

  • Mobile Week Canarias is an initiative of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, promoted together with the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the Government of the Canary Islands, and with the support of Damm and CaixaBank.


Barcelona/Madrid, December 9, 2022.- Mobile Week, the space where technology and society connect, will be held for the first time in the Canary Islands from December 13 to 16 and coinciding with the OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting.


Mobile Week is an initiative of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, and is promoted together with the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the Government of the Canary Islands, and with the support of Damm and CaixaBank. 


Mobile Week Canarias will start on December 13 and 14 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, on the island of Gran Canaria, and then move to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Adeje, on the island of Tenerife, on December 15 and 16.


Each day will feature a specific program of activities like workshops and round tables aimed at professionals in the morning and open to the public at large in the afternoon


Open space for reflection that brings digitalization to society 


Institutions, corporations and citizens will meet on the occasion of Mobile Week to delve into current digital issues such as digital rights, the opportunities that arise for the Canary Islands as a destination for digital nomads, and how to progress towards a sustainable and green digital transition.


The Elder Museum of Science and Technology will host Mobile Week’s kick off event in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the participation of SEDIA, MWCapital, the Government of the Canary Islands and the local government; as far as the Mobile Week in San Bartolomé de Tirajana is concerned, it will be held at the Socio-Cultural Center. In Tenerife, the Iberostar Mencey Hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and at the Costa de Adeje Tourism Development Center in Adeje will be the event’s two locations.


Mobile Week will feature cybersecurity presentations by Red.es and Incibe, whereas the National 5G Observatory will delve into the digital transformation of SMEs, among others.


Learn to Check, one of Mobile Week’s three top-level collaborators, will offer fact checking  workshops to detect false information; Huawei will have its Smart Bus on display, an educational project that visits schools to promote education and digital responsibility; and UNICEF, will provide insights for technology to generate a positive impact on adolescents.

Mobile Week helps citizens integrate digitalization into their daily lives, through different free activities which include conferences and workshops, debates and spaces for reflection. Mobile Week addresses digital gaps by promoting digital inclusion and the digital empowerment of citizens. Mobile Week connects technology with society, using technological tools to address social, cultural, ethical and human concerns and needs.
