Mobile World Capital Barcelona attracts more than 550 international students to meet the city’s digital companies


  • 12 companies from Barcelona's digital ecosystem participate in the fourth edition of Welcome IT Day 

  • Students from 50 different countries attended the event today. 


Barcelona, 20 october, 2023.- The fourth edition of Welcome IT Day, an event organised by Mobile World Capital Barcelona in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council, mobilised 550 international students to connect this young talent with some of the city's leading digital companies. The participants were from 50 different nationalities, including students from Latin America, the United States and China.   

The newly arrived students received a warm welcome, reflecting the importance of making them feel at home. During the day, participants had the opportunity to meet leading companies in Barcelona's digital ecosystem, as well as to see first-hand how digitalisation is present in companies from all sectors. The day ended with a networking session at the Estrella Damm Brewery, to connect young people with recruiters from leading technology companies and discover new job opportunities.   

The Welcome IT Day is a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and build bridges between young talent and innovative companies, with a special emphasis on welcoming and accompanying new students to the dynamic and welcoming city of Barcelona 

The 12 participating companies were: Boehringer Ingelheim, HP, IBM, Majorel, NTT Fecha, Sanofi, CloudCoachers, Schneider Electric, Zurich, Wordline, Lufthansa Digital Hangar Barcelona by Quantion and MediaMarkt. 

This second edition has had students from 20 educational centres such as Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat de Barcelona, EAE Business School, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Barcelona Technology School, ESADE, La Salle, Ironhack or Barcelona School of Economics among others.
