Barcelona, November 23, 2022.– Montse Guardia has joined Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) as the new Director of Strategy and head of the Society area.
Holding a Telecommunications Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and a Masters degree in Management from the Ramon Llull University and Pompeu Fabra University, Guardia gathers more than 30 years experience in strategy and program management at a national and international level. She led the Information Technology services of 4 Olympic Games, Pan American Games, and several World Championships and UN Summits. For the last 10 years, Guardia was committed to building bridges between startups and multinationals - she was Vice President and subsequently General Manager of Alastria Blockchain Ecosystem, a non-profit that promotes the digital economy through the development of blockchain technologies.
As a businesswoman, Guardia has a digitization focused background that has earned her a reputation as an expert in emerging technologies, specially blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, IoT or Quantum. She is considered a household name for blockchain in Europe.
Her extensive experience in the sector has provided her with a good overall vision of national and international markets, as well as a global vision of the trends and new technologies with the power to change society. On May 2022 she became the first woman to chair the Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya Social Council. She is also the president of the Quantum Blockchain Alliance, co-founder of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation, member of the Observatori d'Ètica en Intel·Ligència Artificial de Catalunya (OEIAC) Advisory Council, the Europe’s Movement Health Growth Committee, and FIDE’s think tank Academic Committee, among others.
As the new Director of Strategy and head of the Society area of MWCapital, Guardia will lead different strategic projects and will continue to promote a more inclusive, citizen centered digital future. This is the case of Digital Future Society, an initiative promoted by Spain’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Red.es, and Mobile World Capital Barcelona, which seeks to build a more inclusive, fair and sustainable future in the digital age.
