Barcelona, June 20, 2022 – Next Tuesday, June 21, Mobile World Capital Barcelona’s The Collider innovation program and MATTER, the association and think tank driving the international Frontier Tech & Frontier Materials ecosystem will host the first edition of the PUZZLE X Ventures Summit, the global Materials Deep Tech hub focused on frontier materials innovation. The event will showcase how tech solutions contribute to and increase the value of organizations, while building a more sustainable future in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Óscar Sala, Director of The Collider, stressed that "this meeting is key for fostering frontier materials innovation and approaching new technologies. In addition, it allows us to identify competitive opportunities in the sector and connect scientists with the corporations that bring these new materials into the market."

A space to build and connect

The event will exhibit two pioneering projects: LightNet, a scientific initiative led by the Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecologia (ICN2) and Cooling Photonics, a The Collider and ICN2 co-created company which offers passive cooling solutions that reduce energy consumption and increase systems performance while reducing costs in organizations.

The Summit aims for Frontier Materials such as nanomaterials, graphene, metamaterials, quantum materials, biomaterials and photonics to become standardized materials and accessible to as many organizations as possible. This would allow industry leaders to integrate those materials into their manufacturing processes thus contributing to solving some of industry’s most pressing challenges. The event will be held in-person, and requires prior registration – registration period is currently open and is free. Due to scientific confidentiality issues, no streaming or recording of the sessions will be allowed.

This meeting is the prelude to the upcoming second edition of the PUZZLE X event taking place November 15-17 in Fira Gran Via, Barcelona. In this sense, Sala recalled that the main activity of the science-based startups incubation and acceleration program he runs "is to bring lab-created frontier materials to the market in the form of innovative products and solutions for various sectors".
