
Check the seventh edition of the annual report on digital talent promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, aimed at analysing the impact and evolution of digital talent in the city and the global trends in emerging technologies.
The generation of digital talent grows by 6%
The report states that Barcelona now has 129,608 digital professionals, which means that nearly 62,000 new ICT specialists have been added since 2018, the first year the report was published. The 7,423 new professionals who joined the digital job market in 2024 represent a 6% increase compared to the previous year in the city’s supply of tech talent.

1 in every 4 new jobs created in Europe in 2024 is digital

The evolution of ICT employment in Barcelona is in line with the trend in Europe. Over the past 10 years, the number of ICT specialists on the continent has grown by 56.7%, far exceeding the 9.1% growth in total employment, and now exceeds 10.2 million.
1 in every 3 professionals is a woman
Still far from parity, the last 6 years have seen an increase of over 9 points compared to 22% in 2018. The professions with the highest female presence are led by: Digital Marketing (54%), UX/UI (44%), and sustainable computing (42%).

ICT employment in Barcelona is growing 6 times faster than the overall market
The creation of new jobs in Barcelona’s ICT sector is growing six times faster than the city’s overall labour market, which registered a 0.96% increase in 2024. Furthermore, one third of professionals come from outside Catalonia, reaffirming the city’s ability to attract talent.
Record figures in ICT training in Barcelona

In the 2023–24 academic year, more than 21,500 students were enrolled in official ICT degrees in Catalonia. At the same time, vocational training in ICT fields reached a record 18,425 students, doubling in just eight years.
