- Mobile World Capital Barcelona and the Regional Government of Catalonia once again spread the debate about the digital revolution throughout the territory and increase the headquarters of the previous edition.

Barcelona, 12 November 2020.- A total of 18 cities, regions and territorial areas throughout Catalonia will have a presence at Mobile Week Catalonia 2021, following the call made by Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) and the Regional Government of Catalonia to join the third edition of this initiative, which aims to bring technology closer to citizens. The Mobile Week will be held between the months of May and June. This figure increases regarding the 2020 edition of Mobile Week Catalonia, which goes from fifteen locations to the eighteen planned for the 2021 edition.
Thus, 5 towns in the demarcation of Barcelona (Badalona, Mataró, Terrassa, Sant Pere de Ribes and Vilanova i la Geltrú); 5 from Central Catalonia (Vic, Manresa, Igualada, Centelles and Rupit and Pruit); 4 of the demarcation of Girona (Girona, Figueres, Llagostera and Riudellots de la Selva); 2 of Lleida (Lleida and Mollerussa); 1 from the Upper Pyrenees (La Seu d’Urgell) and 1 from the Ebro Lands (Ribera d’Ebre) will be part of the third edition of Mobile Week Catalonia.
This edition will revolve around three themes: the protection of our privacy and data on the Internet, the digital professional skills that the market is demanding and the role that technology plays during crises. MWCapital’s recommendation for the different territories has been to include hybrid proposals that include activities in virtual and face-to-face format.
All cities and territories have presented a preliminary draft with a brief approach to the format, content and duration of the event, between 1 and 3 days. A team made up of prominent members of MWCapital and heads of the Department of Digital Policies and Public Administration have valued the proposals presented.
Spaces for reflection and debate
Mobile Week is an innovative initiative promoted by MWCapital together with the Regional Government of Catalonia that wants to promote the digital empowerment of citizens. It proposes different spaces for reflection, inclusive debates and participatory activities open to everyone that connect the tools offered by digital technology with the social, cultural, ethical and human concerns and needs of citizens.
Last year, Mobile Week Catalonia was held in 15 cities, with a total of 164 activities and more than 5,300 participants registered. In Barcelona, the fourth edition featured 150 of its own activities distributed among the 10 districts of the city. The Barcelona City Council and more than 200 collaborators, local entities, innovation spaces and research centers participated, consolidating itself as a cross-cutting project in the city.
